Payment for workers in Syft

Clients and workers can both say that there is a love- hate relationship when it comes to payment and syft. Syft doesn't require money for training unlike many jobs when you first enter the company. As a worker, you are expected to work 3 weeks before you actually get paid for the work that you have done. Now before you get a heart attack, remember that you are getting paid for all the work you've done in the past 3 weeks and you will be paid every week after that particular week. Your payment for that particular week will be shown on your profile page where you will see in between your rating and your minimum rate.
Overtime, this will begin to accumulate and you will have total earning which you will be able to access by clicking on this week's earning on the profile page. If you do find difficulties accessing the total earnings despite clicking on this weeks earnings then perhaps restart the app because most of the times that is the solution to a lot of the problems on the app.
Swiftly moving on, most of the jobs on syft are paid on an hourly basis there for you need to keep track of the hours you've worked and the amount you are getting paid. This is the first issue that you will face as you work on Syft. With a company like a syft that's complex, it lacks organisation. Syft normally take long to respond to emails and this affects payment as a whole.

For example: A client will clock you out at 3:45pm instead of 4:00pm. One may say that that's just 15 minutes so what does that have to do with money. For a non-syft worker looking in that may be the case however when you start to work for Syft, you realise that time is truly money and that by deducting 30 minutes or any minute from the hours you spent at work, they have greatly impacted the income that you'll receive at the end of the week. Since you are upset that you lost 20 pounds because of the timings that were incorrectly logged, you send an email complaining about the payment because calling Syft headquarters never truly anywhere. You then spend another week waiting and replying, going back and forth with the agency, hoping that they will consider referring to the client who incorrectly logged your timings, MIND YOU, THIS COMPANY PROBABLY HAS WORKERS LIKE YOU COMING IN EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR SHIFTS. You have to hope that they logged in the correct details on their end because at the end of the day, they have the final say. That my friends, is another isue that many Syfters have with Syft.

".Let me refer to the client and get back to your"

As I had a similar experience in regards to payment because I was correctly paid. It was still up to the people worked for to confirm the timings and hope they matched up to what I was saying. I don't know about many of you but I don't need someone telling me that my claims are legitimate only after confirmed with my manager when the timing that was initially put was the time that I come out. Unless I have a sickness or a drastic situation like a relative being in the hospital or friend passing away (God forbid), I would never need to leave early from a shift. Therefore, if the client indicates that I have left early, then there must be a confirmation and jus

SYFT BOT MISSION

Syft is a platform that was founded in 2015 thanks to Jack Beaman whose experiences in university allowed him to venture into the world of temporary shifts. Advancement in technological innovation allowed for an effective platform where both job seekers and employers can benefit by increasing production and making job allocations a lot easier. Overtime, Syft began to grow and is currently the UK's fastest growing startup with the motto ''Future of work''.
Syft is a platform where you can book shifts for people who require staff for a temporary period, including events, festivals, dinners, hotel services, supervisors among many roles.
In today's day and age, joining the platform has become that much simpler and the on-boarding interview has become a thousand times easier to the point where people may consider it a ''show-up and get recruited'' scenario. It has currently received a lot of funding from various organisations therefore one can say that the various sources of income has made this platform a success story.

BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR THE EMPLOYEES?

The people that nobody ever talks about ...

As I looked through various sources of what the organisation considers employers and employees to be, firstly, it considers people who want to join as ''wannabe Syfters'' already suggesting a community that is very exclusive.

Why do people talk more about the execution and what happens for people who need to break their backs to make this a reality?

Syft just like any other organisation isn't perfect but many can testify to say that Syft hasn't really prioritised the needs and rights of many Syfters in many occasions. In fact in most occasions, Syft sides with organisations and prioritises their statements over the statements made by employees. This makes it harder for Syft employees to earn the promised earnings from an event and traps them in a system where nothing really works in their favour.

However Chinua Achebe says that:
''that since men have learned to shoot without missing, the bird has learned to fly without perching''
This means that despite the system working against employees, people will find ways to overcome the system and make it work in their favour. Syft makes it clear that it is our responsibility to choose and pick shifts but doesn't hold our hands as tightly as their willing to do so for the employers therefore the only people we have in the system is ourselves.

The mission for Syft Bot is to give the opportunity for many people to voice out their opinions. Syft Bot allows people to come to the conclusion on what workplace is suitable for what they are expecting because there are many places with inhumane people who won't respect the rights of employees. The platform has become too complex for the CEO's to do anything therefore it is our responsibility like they constantly tell us to ''pick the right shifts''. Syft Bot will give you an analysis of a particular venue, with experiences, explanations, conclusions and ratings from employees to give you an insight on whether specific venues are worth your time. Employers fail to understand that employees are human beings who put their time and effort because they want to maximise returns and this year we are making big decisions to ensure that we hold each others hands as we pick shifts and grind this year.

NO HORRIBLE RATINGS
NO INHUMANE MANAGERS
NO IRRITATING INSTRUCTIONS
AND CERTAINLY NO MORE LIES

We will make the system transparent but all I ask from you is your consistency. You need to stay up to date on the venues that will be posted once every one or two weeks on a Tuesday because this data has taken time and effort to come up with. If you would like to contribute to the information in future posts then do contact arawak_media on instagram with a private message and you shall receive a message in less than 24 hours.
